Sascha Wölck

Nach einer Reihe von Fließbandjobs, die von der Montage von Handys zur Produktion von Flohmitteln reichen, entschied sich der gelernte Elektriker Sascha Wölck (*1972) seine berufliche Laufbahn abzubiegen. In Berlin studierte er Bildende Kunst und Südostasien-Studien sowie Intercultural Communication in Frankfurt (Oder).
Während der Intendanz von Matthias Lilienthal war er am Theater Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) als freier Mitarbeiter in Produktionen, wie X Wohnungen oder von Rimini Protokoll involviert. Höhepunkt seiner dortigen Tätigkeit war das Festival »Dong Xuan - Vietnamesen in Berlin« (2010), das er zwei Jahre lang als kuratorischer Mitarbeiter von Matthias Lilienthal und Gesine Danckwart entwickelte.
Wissenschaftlich befasst er sich mit kolonialen Echos im Vietnam der Nachkriegszeit. In seiner Monographie »Untitled et al.« untersucht er diese anhand der Konzeptkunst Danh Vos. 2015 promovierte er an der Europa-Universität in Frankfurt (Oder). Im Mittelpunkt seiner Dissertation stehen die Erfahrungen von Nachkommen amerikanischer Soldaten und vietnamesischer Frauen in der Sozialistischen Republik Vietnam, die an unterschiedlichsten Punkten soziale und normative Grenzen markieren.
After a series of assembly line jobs that ranged from the installation of mobile phones to the production of flea control products, trained electrician Sasche Wölck (1972) decided to alter his career path. In Berlin he studied the Fine Arts and in Frankfort (Oder) he studied Southeast Asian Studies. Under the direction of Matthais Lilienthal, Wölck worked as freelance employee in many productions at Theater Hebbel am Ufer (HAU), including “X Wohnungen” (X Apartments). He was also often involved with Rimini Protokoll projects. The climax of his tenure at HAU was the Festival “Dong Xuan - Vietnamese in Berlin” in 2010, a production that he spent two years developing as a curatorial staff member under Matthaias Lilienthal and Gesine Danckwart.
Scientifically, he is concerned with colonial echoes in Vietnam after the war. In his monograph, “Untitled et al.”, he examines the echoes on the basis of the conceptual art of Danh Vo. In 2015 he received his PhD from the European University in Frankfurt (Oder). The focuses of his dissertation are the experiences of descendants of American soldiers and Vietnamese women in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He highlights the diverse points of social and normative limits.
