Thinking Through Tragedy and Comedy - A Symposium on Performance Philosophy and the Future of Genre

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe Kollegen und Kolleginnen,

hiermit möchten wir Sie ganz herzlich zum internationalen Symposium "Thinking Through Tragedy and Comedy - A Symposium on Performance Philosophy and the Future of Genre" einladen. Das Symposium bietet eine Mischung aus Vorträgen, Podiumsdiskussionen und Seminaren, in denen wir der Verbindung von Philosophie und Performance nachgehen und fragen: In welcher Verbindung stehen Lachen und Denken? Wie stehen Leiden und Erkennen zueinander? Wie denkt man durch und mit Tragödie und Komödie? Das produktive Spannungsfeld zwischen generischer Struktur, performativem Fluß und Denkprozess lädt ein zur Diskussion.

We would like to cordially invite you to the international symposium Thinking Through Tragedy and Comedy - A Symposium on Performance Philosophy and the Future of Genre. Please join our roundtable discussions, keynote lectures and seminar sessions designed to investigate the relation between performance and philosophy by asking: What is the relation between laughter and thought? How does suffering bring about understanding? How do we think with and through tragedy and comedy? Take part in the lively debate on the productive clash between generic structure, performative flow, and philosophical thought.
